Afandou is a small
village on the eastern side of Rhodes. The distance to the city
of Rhodes is appx. 20 km. Afandou has a reach selection of small
shops, restaurants and bars which is mainly concentrated around
the city square and the church.
In spite of the size and development of the village it has
accomplished to keep the old villagemark. Now and then it is
still posible to see the old greeks with the remarkable national
greek clothes on.
The men in the
village is still gathered around cardplaying in the streets,
where they are preparing fish on a barbeque and the well known
Souvlaki spears.
Scala is placed on a hill with a fantastic view, on one side to
the village and
the other side to the sea and the beach.
The distance to the beach is 1 km and every hour there is a
small touristtrain
driving to the beautiful beach. At the same time use the opportunity
to take
a roundtrip with the train around the village.
